In the late hours of a Thursday night in Oklahoma City, police were called to a home on Northwest 83rd Street. Inside, they found 34-year-old Kala Wallace suffering from a gunshot wound. Paramedics rushed her to a local hospital in an attempt to save her life. Despite their efforts, she succumbed to her injuries the following day, November 10, 2023.
Present at the home when police arrived was Kala's husband, 41-year-old Taryl Wallace.
Officers at the scene believed him to be under the influence of alcohol. He was taken into custody and booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center.
Initially, Taryl Wallace faced complaints of domestic assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and carrying a firearm while under the influence. Following his wife's death, the case was set to be presented to the District Attorney's Office to determine the final charges. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding Kala Wallace's death is ongoing.
