In a tragic event that unfolded in a home near Lake Overholser in Oklahoma City, 69-year-old Constance 'Connie' Shaffer-Duey was found deceased on September 8, 2022. Police had been called to the residence at 2209 Graham Avenue to conduct a welfare check when they made the grim discovery. Inside the home, they found Ms. Shaffer-Duey, a female, and her 30-year-old son, Noel Shaffer, both of whom had sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
Investigators with the Oklahoma City Police Department
determined that the incident was a murder-suicide. It is believed that Noel Shaffer shot his mother before turning the gun on himself. Ms. Shaffer-Duey's death was classified as the city's 53rd homicide of the year. The investigation was in its early stages at the time of the initial reports, and authorities asked for anyone with information to come forward.
Connie, as she was known to friends and family, was remembered as an artist who found beauty in everything and a person who emanated joy and love. She was a mother to three sons, and her faith was a source of strength for her through difficult times, including the death of her first husband in 2007. She had recently remarried in October 2021. A celebration of her life was held on September 24, 2022, at Victory Church in Oklahoma City.
