In the winter of 2015, a fatal encounter unfolded inside a Tulsa, Oklahoma motel room, leaving one man dead and leading to the arrests of five individuals, including a former sheriff's deputy. The victim was identified as 33-year-old Michael Jones, a male whose life was cut short by gunfire on January 27th at the Super 8 motel located near 31st and Memorial.
The chain of events leading to the shooting reportedly began when a woman named Pamela Taylor met Jones at a local casino.
The two later went to his motel room, where an argument broke out. Taylor then allegedly called for assistance, which brought four men to the scene, one of whom was Warren Crittenden, a 44-year-old former Tulsa County deputy. The situation escalated dramatically as the men burst into Jones's room.
During the ensuing confrontation, Michael Jones was shot and killed. Following the incident, law enforcement launched an investigation that ultimately led to the apprehension of all five suspects. In addition to Pamela Taylor and Warren Crittenden, authorities arrested Dustin Ward, Jerome Hardaway, and Kendrick Logan in connection with the murder. Surveillance footage from the motel reportedly captured one of the suspects, identified as Ward, wearing pajama pants during the incident. Crittenden was taken into custody after being involved in a car accident not far from a police station shortly after the shooting. He reportedly informed the responding officer that he had knowledge of the murder.
The legal proceedings that followed saw the initial first-degree murder charge against Crittenden eventually dismissed, with the district attorney's office choosing to hold him as a material witness in the case. The other suspects, however, faced trial for their alleged roles in the death of Michael Jones.
