On the evening of June 8th, residents of the Bristol Park apartment complex in Tulsa, Oklahoma, were startled by the sound of gunshots. Calls to 911 brought Tulsa Police Department officers to the scene. Their investigation led them to apartment 3003, where they made a grim discovery.
Inside, they found Michael Howell, who had been fatally shot.
Investigators began to piece together the events of that night. They learned that a bullet had been fired into Howell's apartment door shortly after 11 p.m. Witnesses recalled seeing Howell earlier in the evening, engaged in a conversation with an unidentified African American man. In the chaotic moments after the gunshots rang out, four masked individuals were seen fleeing from the apartment building. They were observed getting into a gold or silver SUV before speeding away from the scene. The motive for the shooting is believed to have stemmed from a dispute that escalated with deadly consequences.
Despite the initial leads, the investigation into Michael Howell's murder has been met with significant challenges. The lack of substantial evidence has hindered progress, and the identities of the four masked individuals and the man seen speaking with Howell remain a mystery.
