In the early morning hours of March 27, 2015, a night out at a north Tulsa sports bar ended in tragedy for 37-year-old Antuan Turner. The male victim was shot and killed outside Obsession's Sports Bar, located at 3205 N. Peoria Ave. The incident unfolded around 2 a.m. after an altercation that began inside the establishment.
According to investigators, Turner, who was reportedly intoxicated, had been dancing in a way that offended other patrons.
This led to him being escorted out of the bar. As he was leaving the premises, a barrage of gunfire erupted in the parking lot. Police at the scene found a chaotic situation with over 50 shell casings scattered across the pavement, indicating a significant shootout had occurred. The investigation quickly pointed to a gang-related dispute, although it was not believed that Turner himself was a member of a gang.
In the days following the fatal shooting, Tulsa police identified several individuals believed to be involved. Investigators released the names of four suspects: John Waldon, Leroy Coleman, Willie Stanley, and Diamond Reed. The evidence suggested a complex crime scene with as many as four shooters and three vehicles involved in the incident. It was reported that after the shooting, some of the suspects were left behind in the parking lot and unsuccessfully attempted to steal a car from a nearby car wash, crashing into a light pole in the process.
The investigation led to the arrest of one of the named suspects. On April 1, 2015, Willie Carl Stanley, an ex-convict, was taken into custody in connection with Antuan Turner's death. Authorities continued to search for the other individuals involved and urged the public to come forward with any information that could lead to their apprehension.
