In what appears to have been a robbery gone tragically wrong, 27-year-old Cedrick Lamon Gilmer was shot and killed in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The incident unfolded in the early morning hours of June 9, 2015, at a motel party. Gilmer had reportedly made a post on Facebook indicating he was in possession of a large sum of money, which investigators believe attracted the attention of his assailants.
During the party, a confrontation erupted, resulting in Gilmer being shot multiple times in the
chest and head. He was rushed to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries during surgery. The initial suspects, identified as Roderick Whiteside and Delmar Price, fled the scene on foot before returning to retrieve their vehicle.
The investigation into Gilmer's death led authorities on a multi-state search for the suspects. Roderick Whiteside was eventually tracked down and apprehended in Chicago at his girlfriend's apartment. His girlfriend, 21-year-old Jasmine Coleman, was also arrested and faced first-degree murder charges. Another suspect, 24-year-old Claude Calvin, was also identified, and a warrant was issued for his arrest in connection with the homicide. Authorities also indicated that forensic testing might implicate another individual who had denied any involvement in the crime.
