Michael Meneley, a 31-year-old Caucasian male, was fatally shot in McAlester, Oklahoma on the evening of Sunday, January 3, 2016. The incident that led to his death began with an argument at a residence. During the altercation, another man, Jerome Kentrell Goff, allegedly shot Meneley. Following the shooting, Goff fled the scene, leading to a search by law enforcement.
The McAlester Police Department, with assistance from the Pittsburg County Sheriff's Office, initiated an investigation
into the shooting. An arrest warrant was issued for Goff, who was considered armed and dangerous. He was located and taken into custody in a neighboring county without incident a few days later. Goff was subsequently charged with first-degree murder in connection with Meneley's death.
Following his arrest, Jerome Goff faced legal proceedings for the murder of Michael Meneley. In October 2016, he entered a blind plea of no contest to the charge of first-degree murder. This plea meant that he was not admitting guilt but was accepting a conviction. A Pittsburg County judge then sentenced him to life in prison. He was also given a concurrent 10-year sentence for possession of a firearm after a former felony conviction.
