In the winter of 1910, a brave lawman, Deputy Sheriff Howard Edmond Murray, a 24-year-old male, met a tragic and untimely end in the line of duty in Mcalester, Oklahoma. His death stemmed from a violent encounter on January 27th, when he attempted to arrest a man. During the arrest, the suspect opened fire, striking Deputy Murray.
