In the small city of McAlester, Oklahoma, a life was cut tragically short on Tuesday, March 26, 2024. Tyrann Burks Williams, a 35-year-old Black man, was found deceased in what would soon become a homicide investigation. The events of that day began to unfold when local police received a call about possible gunshots having been fired at a residence.
Officers were dispatched to a home located at the intersection of West Park Avenue and North Hickory Street.
Upon their arrival, they discovered the body of Williams. The investigation into the circumstances of his death began immediately, with the McAlester Police Department calling in the assistance of the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation to lead the case. It was determined that Williams had been the victim of a fatal shooting.
The investigation quickly led to a suspect. A 19-year-old from McAlester, Jonathan Riggins, was arrested in connection with the shooting death of Williams. Riggins was taken into custody and booked into the Pittsburg County Jail, where he now faces a charge of first-degree murder.
