In the cold, early hours of February 2, 2016, the body of 26-year-old Anthony Reed, a Black/African American male, was discovered near Booker T. Washington High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was found lying near a fence that separates the Towne Square Apartments from the school grounds. An investigation by the Medical Examiner's Office would later determine that he had died from a gunshot wound to the chest.
Authorities believe that Reed may have been involved in an altercation with at
least two unidentified individuals in the southwest area of the apartment complex the night before his body was found. It is thought that after being shot, he was left out in a rainstorm overnight. Prior to the discovery of his body, first responders had been called to the same apartment complex for a report of a suicidal individual, at which time they spoke with Reed, who assured them he was fine.
Despite the circumstances surrounding his death, the case remains unsolved. As of now, no arrests have been made and no suspects have been publicly identified in connection with the murder of Anthony Reed. The investigation continues as his community and family await answers and hope for justice to be served.
