On a spring evening in Oklahoma City, the life of 19-year-old Hispanic male Jose Rubio was tragically cut short. On April 5, 2016, Rubio was found shot to death in the driver's seat of a car in a southwest neighborhood. The vehicle had rolled to a stop against a building, and when emergency responders arrived, they discovered Rubio had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to his chest.
The investigation into the homicide led Oklahoma City police to a suspect, Demetrius "Meat" Athletic Gaines.
