On a summer evening in Phoenix, Arizona, on July 31, 2011, a tragedy unfolded that cut short the life of Mack Curtis Hill, a 48-year-old Black male. Hill was found in the driver's seat of his car, which had crashed into a block wall near 24th Street and Broadway Road. Initially, the scene may have appeared to be a traffic accident, but first responders soon discovered that Hill had sustained a gunshot wound.
