In the winter of 2017, a life was tragically cut short in Oklahoma City. Antwon Denziel Chamblee, a 23-year-old African-American man, was found critically injured on a front lawn in the 6600 block of S. Kelley Avenue on January 25th. Emergency services were called to the scene, and he was quickly transported to a local hospital. Despite the efforts of medical staff, Antwon succumbed to his injuries, which were the result of a fatal shooting.
The investigation into his death revealed a
sequence of events that led to the violent encounter. Earlier that day, Antwon had been in the company of three other individuals inside a black Dodge Charger. The group was seen together at a nearby convenience store. After leaving the store, an altercation occurred, and as Antwon was getting out of the vehicle, he was shot multiple times and left for dead.
The case did not remain unsolved for long. Diligent work by the Oklahoma City Police Department led them to identify the individuals responsible for Antwon's death. Two suspects, Courterris Swain and Steven Wallace, were subsequently arrested and faced charges of first-degree murder. In addition to the murder charge, Swain also faced a charge of discharging a firearm from a vehicle, directly linking him to the act that ended Antwon Chamblee's life. The arrests brought a measure of resolution to a case that had shaken the community.
