In Ada, Oklahoma, a 70-year-old man named Wayne Keith Bean was found dead in his home on Thursday, December 14, 2017. The cause of death was an apparent gunshot wound. Authorities publicly stated that they did not suspect foul play in the death and were investigating the possibility that the wound was self-inflicted.
The discovery of his body occurred just days after significant legal troubles emerged.
The preceding Wednesday, Bean had been formally charged with three counts of lewd molestation. These charges stemmed from allegations made by three girls under the age of 14, who accused him of inappropriate touching and kissing. Bean had been involved in their transportation to a local church, the Ada Baptist Temple, as a bus driver.
Following the charges, Bean was booked into the Pontotoc County Justice Center on a Tuesday. He was subsequently released from custody after posting a $250,000 bond. His death followed shortly after his release, leaving the criminal case against him unresolved. The investigation into his death focused on it being a suspected suicide.
