In the quiet town of Ada, Oklahoma, the life of 50-year-old David Charles Evans, a beloved pastor at Harmony Free Will Baptist Church, was cut tragically short in the early morning hours of March 22, 2021. Evans was found in his bed, having been shot in the head. Initially, his wife, Kristie Evans, told dispatchers that an intruder had broken into their home and shot her husband while she lay next to him.
However, the investigation soon took a dark and unexpected turn.
Kristie Evans's story began to unravel, and she eventually confessed to her role in a meticulously planned murder plot. The supposed intruder was, in fact, a man named Kahlil Deamie Square, who was not only Kristie's lover but was also said to have been involved in a sexual relationship with David as well. The plan to murder the pastor was reportedly conceived while he was away on a mission trip in Mexico.
Kristie Evans admitted to investigators that she had begged Square to kill her husband, alleging that David was verbally abusive. She provided Square with her husband's own gun and bullets and left the back door of their home unlocked on the night of the murder to allow him easy entry. Following her confession, both Kristie Evans and Kahlil Square were arrested and charged with first-degree murder.
