In the early afternoon of Thursday, March 8, 2018, a dispute outside the Apache Manor Apartments in Tulsa, Oklahoma, took a tragic turn, ending the life of 15-year-old Tommy Leigh Thompson. The young man, a male with a promising future who was expected to graduate high school a year early, was fatally wounded when gunfire erupted around 12:00 p.m. at the apartment complex located at 2496 North Marion.
Known affectionately as 'Tommy Tom' to his friends and family, he was described as a
funny and caring older brother who wanted to make his family happy. His sister, Monica Wallace, remembered him as someone with a bright future who was destined to make his family proud. His death left his community overwhelmed with grief.
In the wake of the shooting, police identified an 18-year-old as the alleged shooter in the death of the teenager. The incident was not the first time the apartment complex had been the scene of a fatal shooting, with a previous investigation having taken place in April 2014.
