On a cold January evening in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the life of 20-year-old Jamitric Landrum was tragically cut short. On January 19, 2022, what began as a search for a suspected intruder ended in a fatal encounter. Landrum and his girlfriend were at their apartment when they heard someone attempting to force their door open. Upon investigating, they saw a figure disappearing around the corner.
The couple then decided to get into their vehicle to find the person responsible.
Their search led them to a parking lot where they came across Dillon Charles Wilson. A brief verbal exchange took place between Landrum and Wilson. Landrum's girlfriend noticed that Wilson was armed and urged him to drive away. As they were leaving the scene, Wilson opened fire on their vehicle, striking Jamitric Landrum in the back. Emergency services were called, and Landrum was rushed to a local hospital, but he ultimately succumbed to the gunshot wound.
The Tulsa Police Department quickly identified Dillon Charles Wilson as the suspect in the shooting. An arrest warrant was issued, and he was subsequently taken into custody. The investigation revealed that Wilson, a citizen of the Muscogee Nation, had a prior criminal record, including a conviction for robbery with a firearm. The case was investigated by both the FBI and the Tulsa Police Department.
In December 2023, Dillon Charles Wilson, then 27, was sentenced for the murder of Jamitric Landrum. A U.S. District Judge sentenced him to 262 months in prison, which will be followed by five years of supervised release. The court found that Wilson had deliberately and intentionally shot at the vehicle as Landrum was attempting to drive away, a decision that had fatal consequences and forever altered the lives of Landrum's family and loved ones.
