In the late summer of 2018, the life of 21-year-old LeNaryd Daijon Tillis was cut short in Tulsa, Oklahoma. On Wednesday, August 29, 2018, Tillis was fatally wounded in what was described as a 'running gun battle' near an elementary school in north Tulsa. The young man, a resident of Tulsa at the time of his passing, was a victim of gun violence.
The investigation into the shooting led to the arrest of a teenager, Antonio Wilson, who was 17 years old at the time.
Initially facing a murder charge for his involvement in Tillis's death, Wilson later entered into a plea agreement. The charge was reduced to manslaughter, and he was subsequently sentenced to twenty years in prison, with the final seven years of the sentence suspended.
Another individual, Robert McCoy, was identified as an accomplice in the shooting. For his role in the incident that led to the death of LeNaryd Tillis, McCoy was sentenced in May of the following year. He received a twenty-year prison sentence, with the latter half of his term suspended.
