In the winter of 2021, the community of Oklahoma City was shaken by the city's first homicide of the year. On the cold night of January 9th, a 52-year-old Black/African American woman named Anita Kay Walker, known to her loved ones as 'Nita Kay,' was found deceased in front of her home. The grim discovery was made shortly before midnight near N.E. 19th and Page Avenue after officers responded to a report of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they found Anita with a fatal gunshot wound.
