On November 6, 2015, 23-month-old Linette Cano and her mother, 26-year-old Veronica Mercado, were tragically shot and killed in their home in Houston, Texas. Jonathan Figueroa, Mercado's ex-boyfriend, is charged with capital murder in connection with the incident. Authorities reported that Figueroa forcibly entered the home and opened fire, killing both Mercado and her daughter, who was still in her mother's arms when found by police.
