On November 6, 2015, 23-month-old Linette Cano and her mother, 26-year-old Veronica Mercado, were tragically shot and killed in their home in Houston, Texas. Jonathan Figueroa, Mercado's ex-boyfriend, is charged with capital murder in connection with the incident.
