Lynette Mwanyoka, aged 27, was shot and killed on August 4, 2010, in Houston, Texas. The incident occurred at the Wyndham Oaks Apartments located at 2410 South Kirkwood. Around 10:40 p.m., Houston police responded to reports of a shooting. Lynette was found in her apartment with a fatal gunshot wound to the head, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. Another female victim was also found wounded and transported to West Houston Medical Center.
Two men present in the apartment were questioned by police but were released pending further investigation. Authorities have not yet identified a suspect in this case, and the investigation remains open.
