In the early morning hours of November 10, 2025, a violent altercation in west Oklahoma City tragically cut short the life of 19-year-old Anthony Carney, a Black male. The incident, which unfolded at a residence on the 6600 block of NW 10th Street, also left an adult woman wounded. Oklahoma City police officers were dispatched to the scene at approximately 12:19 a.m. following reports of a shooting.
Upon their arrival, they discovered Carney, who had sustained fatal gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. The female victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries.
Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from a dispute between Carney and another man, identified as 20-year-old Kevon Thomas. According to police, the argument escalated to the point where Thomas allegedly produced a pistol and fired, striking both Carney and the woman. Following the shooting, Thomas fled the location.
A swift investigation led authorities to a home in far northeast Oklahoma City, where Kevon Thomas was located and taken into custody. After being interviewed by detectives, Thomas was arrested and booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center on a complaint of murder. This tragic event marked the 59th homicide in Oklahoma City for the year 2025.
