In the late hours of a Friday night in Oklahoma City, a life was tragically cut short. Sixteen-year-old Oscar Escobedo, a Hispanic male, was caught in the crossfire of a dispute that was not his own. On October 15, 2021, officers were dispatched to the parking lot of an event center near Southwest 59th Street and Agnew Avenue around 11:56 p.m. following reports of a fight and multiple gunshots.
Upon their arrival, they discovered young Oscar suffering from a gunshot wound.
He was quickly transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention, but his injury proved to be fatal. Investigators believe that an altercation broke out in the parking lot, leading to the discharge of firearms. It is thought that one of these bullets, a stray, tragically found its way to Escobedo, who was not involved in the initial conflict.
