On a warm evening in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on May 22, 2022, a tranquil horseback ride turned into a scene of violence that ended the life of 22-year-old Laneko S. McMahan. A Black and Muscogee citizen, McMahan was riding with a friend near the intersection of Northeast 41st Street and Lenox Avenue when he was fatally shot. The incident occurred at approximately 8:59 p.m. in a rural area on the eastern edge of the city.
