In the autumn of 2022, the life of 50-year-old Corey Dell Sequichie, a male resident of Afton, Oklahoma, came to a tragic and violent end. On November 28, 2022, his body was discovered by construction workers in a rural area of Osage County, near Zinc Ranch. The grim discovery launched a wide-ranging and intensive murder investigation led by the Osage County Sheriff's Office.
The investigation that followed was a collaborative effort involving numerous law enforcement agencies, including
the Tulsa Police Department, the FBI, and the U.S. Marshal's Service, among others. Over the course of their work, investigators executed multiple search warrants across northeastern Oklahoma, dedicating hundreds of hours to piecing together the events that led to Sequichie's death. The investigation uncovered a complex plot that authorities believe was orchestrated from within the state's prison system. The motive appeared to be rooted in the drug trade, with investigators suggesting the murder was connected to a failed drug delivery and instigated by prison gangs.
By December 2022, the diligent work of law enforcement culminated in the arrests of six individuals believed to be the key figures in carrying out the murder. Those taken into custody were Dacia Rae Dorris, Robert DeWayne McCully, Nolan Gilland Osteen, Dillan Joseph Plank, Justin Daniel Jordan, and Randy Alex McDonald. While these six were in custody, charged initially with conspiracy to commit a felony, the Osage County Sheriff indicated that the investigation was far from over. Authorities stated their belief that more arrests would follow as they continued to unravel the conspiracy, suggesting that four to five additional suspects, some already incarcerated, were involved in the planning of the crime.
