Hy'kyme Quayme Hayes, a 20-year-old male, was found deceased on Thursday, August 7, 2014, in Beloit, Wisconsin. His death was the result of a gunshot wound. He was discovered in the 500 block of Eighth Street.
Initially investigated as a potential homicide, the Beloit Police Department later concluded that Hayes's death was a suicide. This determination was announced by the police chief in an update on city homicides from that year.
While the death was ruled self-inflicted, the investigation revealed a connection to a prior crime.
Authorities reported that the firearm used in the suicide was linked to a shooting that had occurred a few months earlier on St. Lawrence Avenue in the city. However, due to the ruling of suicide, there was no search for suspects in connection with his death, and no arrests were made.
