In the chill of a Milwaukee afternoon on December 7, 2017, the life of 18-year-old Tyler Rivas was tragically cut short. A Hispanic male, Rivas was in the vicinity of 81st Street and Thurston Avenue when gunfire erupted around 2 p.m.

Emergency services responded to the scene of the shooting, and the severely wounded teenager was rushed to a local hospital. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Rivas succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
