In the winter of 2022, the life of a 39-year-old Black / African American man named Joseph Garner was cut short by gunfire in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. On the afternoon of Sunday, January 30th, violence erupted near the intersection of 29th Street and Ruby Avenue. First responders and law enforcement were called to the scene, where Garner had sustained fatal injuries from a shooting. The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office officially confirmed his death at the location.
