In the quiet community of Coon Valley, Wisconsin, a tragedy unfolded on the evening of June 19, 2022, ending the life of 48-year-old Rick Schermerhorn, a White male. The events of that night stemmed from a domestic dispute that escalated to a fatal conclusion. Authorities from the Vernon County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the Schermerhorn residence on County Road P after receiving a distressing 911 call about a possible suicide.
