In the late evening hours of August 10, 2022, Iris Young, a 50-year-old Black / African American woman, was tragically killed in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The incident occurred around 10:50 p.m. near the intersection of 26th Street and Kilbourn Avenue. Young was a mother of seven and was on her way home from her job at Wendy's when her life was cut short.
According to reports, Young encountered two individuals engaged in a heated argument.
During this altercation, a young woman was seen brandishing a handgun. The firearm discharged, and a bullet struck Iris Young. Emergency services were called to the scene, where they found her with gunshot injuries. Despite their efforts, she was pronounced dead at the location of the shooting.
The Milwaukee Police Department launched an investigation into the homicide. Their efforts led to the arrest of two individuals in connection with the fatal shooting. The suspects were identified as a 23-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man. A firearm was also recovered by the authorities. Following the arrests, charges were referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office for review.
