In the early morning hours of November 22, 2022, the life of 33-year-old Mario Martinez Redmond Jr., a Black/African American male, was tragically cut short in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Known affectionately as "Scoop" to his family, Redmond was a father of four with a passion for sports, especially basketball and football, and a love for performing in local talent shows.
His sudden and violent death left a profound void in the lives of his loved ones.
Redmond was discovered inside a residence near 46th and Locust on Milwaukee's north side with a gunshot wound to his head. Despite immediate medical efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators found a. 40 caliber casing near his feet, but the weapon used in the shooting was not recovered from the home. The incident was quickly ruled a homicide, launching a police investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
Months later, a break in the case led to the arrest of a suspect. On June 11, 2023, 32-year-old Lance Windom was charged with first-degree intentional homicide as a party to a crime in connection with Redmond's death. According to the criminal complaint, evidence against Windom included surveillance footage that captured an SUV arriving at the scene. A man was seen exiting the vehicle, approaching the house, and then fleeing after a gunshot was heard. Furthermore, the complaint detailed that Windom had allegedly attempted to sell the gun used in the shooting on social media shortly after the incident occurred.
