In the small community of Bypro, Kentucky, a violent encounter on an April afternoon in 2014 resulted in the death of Rodney Mullins. A 43-year-old man from the nearby town of Melvin, Mullins was found by Kentucky State Police troopers who had been dispatched to the scene following a report of a shooting. He had sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
