In Paducah, Kentucky, a young Black/African American man named Darrius Lamont White, lost his life at the age of 22. On June 8, 2021, White was fatally wounded at his own home. Known for his quiet and relaxed nature, he was a graduate of Paducah Tilghman High School where he had been a part of the football team during his middle school years.
Darrius was remembered by those who knew him as a family-oriented person who enjoyed sports, especially basketball.
At the time of his passing, he was on the cusp of a new beginning, preparing to start a new job with UACJ Automotive White Hall Industries, having previously been employed by FedEx. He was a father to a step-son and was in a committed relationship.
The circumstances surrounding his death remain unresolved. Law enforcement has not publicly identified any suspects in connection with the shooting. As of now, no arrests have been made, and the investigation into his death continues, leaving his family and community awaiting answers.
