In the summer of 2021, the life of 26-year-old Justin Keith Crabtree was tragically cut short. On Thursday, July 22, 2021, an argument involving a 16-year-old female minor escalated into a fatal confrontation in Paducah, Kentucky. Crabtree had reportedly driven the minor to the residence where Aerion Jones and his girlfriend were staying. After dropping her off nearby, Crabtree was confronted by Jones.
Following the initial dispute, the two men separated.
However, the conflict was far from over. Jones proceeded to Crabtree's house where the argument resumed outside. It was there that the confrontation turned deadly, and Crabtree was fatally shot. He was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, where he ultimately passed away. A graduate of Ballard Memorial High School in 2013, Justin was employed as a diesel mechanic and was known for his love of bull riding and collecting arrowheads.
In the aftermath of the shooting, an investigation led to the arrest of Aerion Jones. In June of 2023, Jones pled guilty to murder and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. As a result of his guilty plea, he was sentenced to serve 20 years in prison for the murder charge and an additional ten years for the handgun charge.
