In the city of Louisville, Kentucky, a heartbreaking story unfolded in March of 2015, forever marking the lives of one family. Four-year-old Ilanye Noel Price, a young female, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2015, at Norton Kosair Children's Hospital. Her death was the result of what was reported as a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The tragic incident occurred on Friday, March 13, 2015, on Algonquin Parkway, leaving the little girl in grave condition before she ultimately succumbed to
her injuries the following day. News of the shooting sent ripples through the community, with a neighbor expressing the hope that this devastating event would serve as a stark reminder to others to 'Put your gun away.'
In the days that followed, those who knew and loved Ilanye gathered to remember the little girl they affectionately called 'Shug.' A Baptist by faith, her funeral service was held on Thursday, March 19, 2015, at W. P. Porter Mortuary. She was survived by her mother, Dashanah R. Price; her father, Noel D. Langdon; a sister, Ilesa Key; two brothers, Daniel Key and DaShon Price; and her grandmothers, Ilesa Price and Ethel Langdon. No arrests were made in connection with the incident as authorities determined the wound was self-inflicted.
