Do you know who murdered Jessica Shadowens? In the early morning hours of October 16, 2015, in Louisville, Kentucky, 28-year-old Jessica Rae Shadowens was tragically killed. The female victim was inside a home in the Portland neighborhood, located at 28th and Northwestern Parkway, when a shooter opened fire. Shadowens suffered from multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:24 a.m.
She had been staying at the residence but was not a permanent resident.
The incident was a triple shooting that also claimed the life of 55-year-old August Dichiara Jr., who resided in the home. A third individual, who was romantically involved with Shadowens, was also shot but survived his injuries. This survivor later recounted the harrowing experience, stating he woke up to the sound of gunshots and witnessed the assailant shoot Shadowens before turning the gun on him. He was struck once in the leg.
The survivor has maintained that he knows the identity of the shooter, claiming it was a man that Jessica Shadowens knew. He reported that Shadowens had texted this individual on the night of the murders. Despite the survivor's assertions to the police, law enforcement officials have stated that there is a significant difference between suspicions and the evidence required for a conviction in court.
As of October 2017, two years after the deadly shooting, no arrests had been made, and the case officially remains unsolved. The Louisville Metro Police Department has encouraged anyone with information to contact their anonymous tip line. The loss of Jessica Shadowens, who was remembered for her larger-than-life smile and her devotion to her daughter, continues to be mourned by her family and friends.
