In Louisville, Kentucky, a heart-wrenching story unfolded around the brief life of a two-year-old girl named Timia Taylor. The young female's life came to a tragic end in February after she sustained injuries at the Shawnee Gardens Apartments located near South 42nd Street. She was transported to Kosair Children's Hospital for medical attention but succumbed to her injuries ten days later.
The cause of her death was determined to be blunt force trauma, which led the coroner to rule her death a homicide.
Following an investigation into the circumstances of Timia's death, her father, 26-year-old Jerrel Holloway, was identified as a suspect. In 2017, he turned himself in to the authorities in court and was subsequently arrested and charged in connection with his daughter's death. He was held at Louisville Metro Corrections as the legal process began to unfold. The case, however, took a significant turn as new evidence came to light.
In February 2020, the charges against Jerrel Holloway were dropped. Investigators had discovered that Timia suffered from a medical condition. This new information made it difficult for the Commonwealth Attorney's Office to definitively prove that her injuries were the result of criminal conduct or unlawful excessive force, rather than her underlying health issues. As a result, no one is currently charged in connection with her death.
