In a tragic turn of events, 23-year-old Mollie Michaela White, a White female, lost her life on January 11, 2018, in a violent encounter inside a home in the Worthington Hills neighborhood of Louisville, Kentucky. The incident, which also left a man in his 20s injured, unfolded in the 10000 block of Symington Circle. According to reports, the perpetrator arrived at the residence of a male friend of Mollie's with the intention of settling a score with him.

While the male friend was injured, he managed to escape. In the ensuing chaos, Mollie attempted to hide from the assailant. However, the suspect discovered her and fatally shot her. The Jefferson County Coroner's office later confirmed that her death was the result of a gunshot wound.

Nearly a month after the shooting, an arrest was made in the case. William Bald, who was 19 years old at the time, was taken into custody by police while he was at his probation officer's office. He was on probation for previous robbery convictions. The surviving male victim was instrumental in identifying Bald as the suspect. Bald was subsequently charged with murder, assault, and robbery. It was also alleged that he stole $100 from the scene of the crime.

More than five years after Mollie's death, in January 2023, William Bald, then 24, pleaded guilty to the charges against him, including the murder of Mollie White. His sentencing was scheduled for March of that same year. The tragic loss deeply affected Mollie's family, with her father taking his own life just a few months after her murder. Friends and family remembered Mollie as a compassionate person and raised funds to place a commemorative bench in her honor at Beckley Creek Park.
