Thomas Warren Hafley, an 18-year-old male, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2015, in Lexington, Kentucky. Known affectionately as Tom, he was a senior at Tates Creek High School and had been living with depression for a long time. His death was ultimately ruled a suicide.
Tom was remembered by those who knew him as a creative and kind person with a sense of humor and a spirit of adventure.
He had a passion for cars that began with Hot Wheels when he was young and evolved into an interest in real cars as he grew older. He was also known for creating incredible costumes and had been a member of the Tates Creek archery team since its inception. He cherished the time he spent with his countless friends.
His death was a profound loss for his family and friends. A celebration of his life was held for friends and family to gather and share remembrances of him. His family expressed their gratitude for the peace he had found and thanked everyone who had loved and supported him. In his memory, they suggested that donations be made to a youth suicide prevention campaign.
