On a tragic day in Louisville, Kentucky, 43-year-old Elizabeth Draper’s life was cut short in a brutal act of violence. On February 13, 2016, she, along with her boyfriend, William Neal, 35, and their acquaintance, Douglas Weber, 36, were found shot to death inside a home on Wheeler Avenue. The female victim, Elizabeth, was a nurse, remembered by loved ones for her constant smile and loving nature.
The day following the discovery of the three victims, Louisville Metro Police arrested
26-year-old George Slaughter in connection with the killings. He was taken into custody at his apartment on Mildenhall Way without incident and subsequently charged with three counts of murder and tampering with physical evidence. Authorities have not publicly disclosed a motive for the triple homicide. Slaughter was known to at least one of the victims, William Neal, and was described by family members as a friend.
During the investigation, it was revealed that a witness was present during the shootings. According to her account, a man she identified as 'Ace' entered the home, paced around, and then pulled out a gun and began shooting. The witness survived by pretending to be dead. In the course of the legal proceedings, it emerged that George Slaughter had a previous conviction for manslaughter in 2008 and had been released from prison in 2012. Court documents also indicated that Slaughter had been diagnosed with schizophrenia in December 2015. A jail informant later told detectives that Slaughter confessed to the murders, claiming he was high on cocaine and drunk at the time and that he acted in self-defense. Slaughter pleaded not guilty to the charges, and his bond was set at $1 million.
