In the heart of a Louisville autumn, a life was abruptly cut short, leaving a family to grapple with a sudden and violent loss. Donald Hester, a 50-year-old Black male, became another statistic in the city's growing homicide count on the morning of October 19, 2016. His body was discovered in a south alley in the 3300 block of Greenwood Avenue, a grim finding in the Parkland neighborhood.
