In the quiet community of Walton, Kentucky, a grim discovery was made on the evening of Saturday, February 11, 2017. Twenty-five-year-old Tyler Ryan of Covington was found deceased in the front yard of a residence on Deer Trace Drive. He had sustained apparent gunshot wounds. The Boone County Sheriff's office was called to the scene shortly after 7:00 p.m., where they began an investigation into the young man's death.
Investigators quickly began to piece together the events that led to
the fatal shooting. The prevailing theory that emerged was that the incident was the result of a drug deal that had taken a violent turn. As detectives processed the evidence at the scene, the search for those responsible was already underway. The investigation pointed towards two individuals, leading law enforcement to focus their efforts on apprehending the suspects.
Within a couple of days, the investigation led to the identification of two suspects: Michael York, 26, and Gregory Siffel, 29. Arrest warrants for murder were issued for both men. With the assistance of the United States Marshall Service Task Force, the pair was located and apprehended in Cincinnati, Ohio, on Monday, February 13, 2017. They were taken into custody without incident and held in the Hamilton County, Ohio Detention Center, awaiting extradition back to Kentucky to face charges in connection with the death of Tyler Ryan.
