On June 6, 2021, the life of thirty-seven-year-old William Fabian Nearing came to a tragic end in Saint Louis, Missouri. Known affectionately to his friends and family as 'Fab,' he was discovered by police officers who were called to the scene of a shooting in the Columbus Square neighborhood. Upon their arrival at the intersection of North Tucker Boulevard and Biddle Street, authorities found the male victim suffering from fatal gunshot wounds.
Despite the emergency response, he succumbed to his injuries, marking another violent loss for the community that year.
Born on July 23, 1983, to Anita and William Nearing, he was a lifelong resident of the area and a 2002 graduate of Roosevelt High School. He was remembered as a quiet and humble individual who had pursued higher education and cherished his role as a father. His untimely death left behind a grieving family, including his mother, stepfather Kelvin Davis, and his four children—Trinity, William Jr., Daytoni, and stepdaughter Destiny. He was also survived by five sisters and two brothers, along with a close-knit circle of extended relatives who gathered for a memorial service on Meramec Street shortly after the incident.
In the aftermath of the shooting, homicide detectives from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the killing. While the incident was logged in citywide crime databases, public reports following the event did not immediately name any suspects or announce arrests specifically tied to his case.
