In the summer of 2021, a burst of gunfire shattered the morning calm in a Shively neighborhood, leaving a family and community to grapple with a sudden and violent loss. On Saturday, August 14, 2021, 35-year-old Johnathan Smith was fatally shot inside a vehicle as it was leaving a residence on Mildred Drive.
