On a Sunday afternoon in the Shawnee neighborhood of Louisville, Kentucky, the life of Mortell A. Ashford, a 26-year-old Black male, was tragically cut short. On February 12, 2017, at approximately 2:00 p.m., Ashford was found lying in the street at the intersection of North 39th Street and Jewell Avenue.
