In the fall of 2020, the life of 22-year-old Tyler David 'Ty' Lanham was tragically cut short in his Louisville, Kentucky home. A white male known for his infectious laugh and unwavering loyalty to his friends and family, Lanham was a hardworking individual who cherished every moment. On the afternoon of October 26, 2020, his life took a devastating turn in the Pleasure Ridge Park neighborhood.
Two men, later identified as 20-year-old Edtavion Triplett and 20-year-old Kevon James,
entered Lanham's residence on Brookview Drive with the intent to commit a robbery. Their target was another individual at the home, from whom they planned to steal property, including a rifle. Lanham, in a selfless act of intervention, attempted to step in. This confrontation resulted in Lanham being shot multiple times by the intruders.
Emergency services were called to the scene around 4:30 p.m., and Lanham was rushed to the University of Louisville Hospital in critical condition. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his multiple gunshot wounds in the early morning hours of October 27, 2020. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office officially confirmed the cause of his death.
The investigation into the senseless killing led to the apprehension of both suspects. Edtavion Triplett was the first to be arrested, with Kevon James being taken into custody two weeks later. Both men faced charges of murder and robbery for their roles in the fatal shooting. Triplett pleaded not guilty to the charges during his arraignment. James's bond was set at $250,000.
