In the late summer afternoon of August 22, 2023, the life of 38-year-old David Moore, a Black male, was tragically cut short in Louisville, Kentucky. Responding to reports of a shooting around 2:30 p.m. in the Bon Air neighborhood, Louisville Metro Police officers arrived at the 3300 block of Noe Way to a grim discovery. In the backyard of a residence, they found Moore suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Despite any efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The initial investigation revealed that the perpetrator or perpetrators had fled before law enforcement arrived, leaving behind a community in shock and a family grappling with a sudden and violent loss. The LMPD's Homicide Unit immediately took charge of the case, beginning the arduous process of piecing together the events that led to Moore's death.
