In the late hours of a Tuesday night in Bonnieville, Kentucky, an argument between two individuals escalated into a tragedy that would end a young woman's life. On March 14, 2017, 27-year-old Jennifer N. Hendricks was fatally shot in the front yard of a residence on Walnut Grove School Road in Hart County. The homeowner reported hearing a gunshot at approximately 9:30 p.m. and discovered Hendricks on the ground outside. By the time Kentucky State Police arrived, she was deceased from an apparent gunshot wound.
The suspect, identified as 47-year-old David 'Randy' Finley, had fled the scene on foot before law enforcement arrived. An immediate search for Finley began, leading authorities to a house in Radcliff. Within six hours, troopers were able to locate him. Finley, a convicted felon considered armed and dangerous, was found hiding under a couch with a weapon. He was uncooperative and combative during his arrest, but was ultimately taken into custody by the troopers.
Following his arrest, Finley was lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center. He was initially charged with murder, wanton endangerment, assault on a police officer, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and resisting arrest. Subsequently, a Hart County grand jury indicted Finley on multiple charges, including murder, attempted murder, tampering with physical evidence, and being a persistent felony offender. Investigators continued to seek witnesses to understand what led to the fatal altercation.
