In the late hours of a Monday night in Frankfort, Kentucky, the life of 24-year-old Christian Fowler was tragically cut short. On August 28, 2017, authorities responded to a call of a man shot at the Hickory Hills Manor apartment complex. Upon arrival, they discovered Fowler suffering from a gunshot wound outside one of the buildings. He was quickly transported to Frankfort Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after midnight.
An autopsy later confirmed that his death was the result of the gunshot wound.
Witnesses at the scene reported hearing gunshots but did not see the shooting itself. However, there were reports of an altercation involving Fowler earlier in the evening, though it was not immediately clear if the other individual involved was connected to the shooting. The investigation into the incident continued as police processed the scene and interviewed potential witnesses, seeking to piece together the events that led to the fatal encounter.
A break in the case came when 23-year-old Shaquille Davon Young of Frankfort turned himself in to the Frankfort Police Department. Accompanied by his lawyer, Young was arrested and subsequently charged with first-degree murder in connection with Christian Fowler's death. His bond was set at $500,000. In addition to Young's arrest, a 17-year-old male was also charged with complicity to murder, adding another layer to the ongoing investigation.
