In the summer of 2018, the life of Joseph Harold Wyatt, a 66-year-old semi-retired man from Mount Washington, Kentucky, was tragically cut short. On the evening of June 14, two individuals riding motorcycles made a grim discovery on a gravel road near Farnsley-Moreman Landing Park in southwest Jefferson County. They found the body of Mr. Wyatt, who had been fatally shot.
Investigators with the Louisville Metro Police Department were called to the scene on Moorman Road.
It soon became apparent that this was not just a senseless act of violence, but also a robbery. Mr. Wyatt's car had been stolen, adding another layer to the tragic event. The initial investigation left police seeking help from the public for any information regarding suspicious activity in the park on the day of the murder.
The investigation into the death of the former Newcomb Oil Five Star employee and member of Bethany Baptist Church led to a significant development. Police arrested William A. Johnson in connection with the homicide. Johnson was subsequently charged with murder, and his bail was set at $100,000.
